Demographic barometer. World population aging

  • According to the UN estimates, in 2012, he number of people aged 60 and over constituted 810 million and in 2050 will exceed 2 billion
  • Worldwide, in 2050, the proportion of people aged 60 and over constituted 11%, and by 2050 it is expected to grow up to 22%, and the median age will rise from 30 to 38 years
  • In 2050, the number of world population under 25 will remain almost the same as in 2012, while the proportion of people 60 and over will increase 2,5 times
  • On average, men who have survived to reach the age of 60 are expected to live another 18 years, women -22 years but more likely than men – alone
  • Economic activity among men aged 60 and over accounts for 26% in developed countries and 60% in developing countries, while among women of the same age it is 15% and 43%.
