Russian demographic barometer:Demographic results of the first half-year 2012 (part II)

  • In the first half of 2012 the number of the deceased and the crude death-rate continued their reduction

  • In January-July, 2012 there was an improvement in mortality from circulatory diseases and from external causes but tumor mortality and mortality from diseases of digestive system has rather increased

  • In January-July, 2012 mortality from external causes continued to reduce but traffic accident mortality increased on 5 %

  • Among those who in 2011 died of infectious and parasitic deceases  48 % failed to reach the age of 40 years, and almost 48 % of those who died of external causes failed to reach the age of 45 years

  • In January-July, 2012 because of revision of live birth criteria, the rate of infant mortality increased and made 8,6 ‰
