За последние два десятилетия произошли заметные изменения в возрастной структуре населения - количество лиц старше 60 лет, увеличилось на 82%, а число долгожителей - на 715%. В данном, третьем, издании учебника по гериатрической медицине предлагается всесторонний и многонаспектный анализ по множеству вопросов, связанных с гериатрией. Полностью переработанный по сравнению с предыдущим изданием, чтобы отразить нынешнее состояние гериатрической медицины, учебник рассматривает медицинскую и научную основу клинических проблем, а также этические, юридические и социально-экономические проблемы для политики и систем здравоохранения.
