- At the beginning of 2023, 10.9 million people with disabilities
were registered in Russia, or 7.5% of the country’s total
population
- Most disabled persons in Russia belong to groups II and
III - 41% each; disabled people of group I make up about 12%,
and children with disabilities more than 6%
- 64 per cent of the disabled in Russia are older than working
age, including 41 per cent of women over working age
- The number of children with disabilities at the beginning
of 2023 came to 722,000 people, or 2.4% of the population
under 18
- General illness is the cause of disabilities of 84% of
disabled persons 18 years old and older; another 12% have
been disabled since childhood
