  • World population estimates according to the UN 2024 revision
    • On July 11, 2024, the results of the 28th cycle of calculations "World Population Prospects 2024 revision" were presented
    • The world population continues to grow rapidly, exceeding 8.1 billion people by 2024, but is highly likely to start declining from the mid-2080s, not reaching 10.3 billion people
    • In a 95% confidence interval, the world population by the end of the century will be from 9.0 to 11.4 billion people
    • In 2023, 59% of the world's population lived in Asia, 18% in Africa; by the end of the century these shares may be, respectively, 45% and 37%
    • Total fertility of the world's population has fallen below the level 2.3 children per woman, which is one child less than in the early 1990s
